From Panel Design to Power Management — E&I Systems That Meet International Standards
FERSMEK's electrical and instrumentation team handles everything from control panel design and fabrication to instrument loop documentation and drive commissioning — all designed to IEC 60204-1 and local regulatory standards.
What We Do
FERSMEK's E&I team designs and documents complete electrical systems — from the incoming power supply to the field instrument. We use Cadmatic for schematic and loop documentation, ensuring every drawing is traceable, revision-controlled, and ready for third-party inspection.
Our drive engineering capability covers ABB, Siemens, Lenze, and Nord Gear platforms. We handle the full scope: motor and drive sizing, panel integration, parameter commissioning, and dynamic performance verification. For process industries, we also design and document instrument loops to ISA-5.1 standard.
Core Capabilities
Control Panel Design & Fabrication
Complete panel engineering using Cadmatic — from single-line diagrams and cable schedules to as-built documentation and panel assembly. Panel layouts are designed for practical maintenance access, with clear cable labelling and component arrangement that reflects the machine sequence rather than simply filling space. Every panel is wiring-inspected before delivery.
AC/DC Drive Systems
Variable speed drive selection, sizing, and commissioning across ABB, Siemens, Nord Gear, and Lenze platforms — including regenerative and multi-drive configurations. We handle the full scope: motor and drive sizing calculation, panel integration, harmonic analysis for multi-drive installations, parameter commissioning, and dynamic performance verification on site.
Instrument Loop Design
P&ID review, instrument selection, and loop documentation for pressure, flow, temperature, level, and analytical measurement using Cadmatic. Loop drawings follow ISA-5.1 standard for traceability and inspection readiness. Instrument datasheets, calibration certificates, and loop test records are delivered as part of the handover package.
IEC 60204-1 Compliance
All electrical designs meet IEC 60204-1 (Safety of Machinery — Electrical Equipment). Documentation package includes conformity assessment, panel layout drawings, and inspection checklist for CE marking or third-party inspection. We guide clients through the inspection process and attend third-party audits where required.
Low & High Voltage Systems
LV distribution, motor control centres, and transformer-fed HV feeder design for production facilities and utility infrastructure. We coordinate with local electrical contractors for civil works and cable pulling, and manage the inspection process with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) where required for high-voltage connections.
Energy Management
Power monitoring, metering integration, and energy consumption reporting — integrated with SCADA/MES for production-level energy KPIs. Energy dashboards show consumption per product, per shift, and per machine — giving operations and sustainability teams the data to drive targeted energy reduction without manual metering rounds.

Our E&I Process
Scope & Standards Review
Define applicable standards (IEC 60204-1, local codes), power requirements, and documentation expectations.
Electrical Design
Cadmatic-based schematic design, panel layout, cable routing, and instrument loop documentation.
Panel Fabrication
FERSMEK manages panel fabrication with qualified local panel builders. Wiring inspection before delivery.
Drive Commissioning
On-site drive parameter setup, motor alignment verification, and dynamic performance tuning.
Inspection & Handover
Third-party inspection where required. Full as-built documentation and operations manual handover.
Power Distribution Upgrade & Multi-Drive VFD Integration — Paper Winding Line
A pulp and paper manufacturer was experiencing repeated failures on a winding line running legacy DC drive systems. FERSMEK conducted a drive audit, identified three drives with end-of-life components, and designed a replacement scope using ABB ACS880 VFDs with regenerative braking for the unwind stand. The panel was redesigned with improved cable segregation and harmonic filtering. Because the PLC program used a standard drive interface, the migration was completed over two planned weekend shutdowns without production line modification. New as-built documentation was produced from scratch, as the original drawings were incomplete.
